About the proposed route for this year's 2nd annual Mexipino Motorcyle Run...
Here's what I'm thinking for trip planning. Nothing is set in stone, I'm flexible. Keep in mind I've got a not-so-comfy seat on the bike, a 2 hour bladder and a thirsty pig for a bike. So if it seems like the legs are short per day, they might be. I want to ride slow and comfy, especially if there are more on the ride than just Ross and me. Also, we'd like to ride day VFR only. So here 'tis:
Day 1: San Diego to Bishop, CA - 360 miles
Day 2: Bishop to Susanville, CA - 286 miles
Day 3: Susanville to Eureka, CA - 260 miles
Day 4: Eureka to Ft Bragg to Bodega Bay - 241 miles, awesome CA coastline.
Day 5: Bodega to Stockton - 130 miles. Ross' parents and sister are here, gotta stop and hang. His parents are like the Mexican Ward and June Cleaver, which makes Ross the Beav and me, the Filipino Eddie Haskell. Once in Stockton, maybe a quick trip to the Stanislaus Nat'l Forest w/ Ross' pop-in-law (he rides too).
Day 6: Stockton to Fresno to Visalia - 168 miles. Johnnie C, Rainer S and Mark W, all old Navy buddies that I really want to see in person.
Day 7: Visalia to Oxnard (if Jeff from Hawaii is with us to visit his sister Virgie) - 197 mi
Day 8: Oxnard to San Diego - 192 mi
Remember, this is early and I'm pretty sure this will change. Start date is set for May 17. The only sure things are Stockton, Fresno/Visalia and Oxnard (if Jeff is with us; you better go with us Jeff and Paul!). The Owens Valley (road to Bishop) and NorCal stuff (north of Stockton) is totally flexible. I just want to be out there, knees in the breeze. We might cross the Sierras just north of Bishop. By the way, where's Donner Pass? Order Vegan just in case we stop for lunch there.
Accommodations along the way will primarily be with our friend Tom (Bodette of Motel 6 fame) or cheaper; no reservations unless it's really necessary. No beans or broccoli will be allowed for consumption on this trip as a courtesy to roommates. Camping gear? Eh, I'll be honest, I'm not that into it especially after riding all day. I'd consider it, depending on who's with us and how gung ho we are or how much we want to re-create the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles...
Contact me if you'd like to join us.

P.S. Yes, I'll have my iphone and email with me.
